Although we have seen poverty levels in Cambodia fall from about 50% to below 20% in the last 10 years, more than 70% of Cambodians still live on less than US$3 a day. This make them vulnerable to falling back into poverty.
Trax saw an opportunity to help, so we teamed up with Tabitha Foundation Cambodia. The foundation is a sustainable non-profit organisation that has worked with more than 1.8 million Cambodians in some of the country’s poorest communities. In a bid to help a family break out of the poverty cycle, Tabitha Foundation focuses on their housing issues, water supplies, and enrollment into the Foundation’s Savings and Family Partnerships Programme.
Working alongside Tabitha, we’ve donated three homes to needy Cambodians to date. Trax not only paid for the construction of the homes, we were there to help build these houses too. We hope to keep building houses and improving lives.
The mission of Sunrise Association is to bring back the joys of childhood to cancer-stricken children and their siblings through Sunrise Day Camps. Through the daily camp activities, these children are able to play in a safe environment and enjoy the fun activities that regular children experience. With all the changes that come when a child is diagnosed with cancer, the financial impact of treatment is sometimes overlooked.
So Trax Israel participated in the Tel Aviv Night Run to support the Sunrise Association. Each Trax participant ran 10km on behalf of a child from the association, and the participation fee was donated towards medical treatment of the child. The sweat and pain of running has never been more worthwhile.
Trax Singapore mixed work and relaxation by inaugurating ‘Massage Fridays’ as a way of paying it forward to visually handicapped masseurs. Part of the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) group, the Mobile Massage Team are a group of WSQ-certified (Workforce Skills Qualifications) visually-handicapped masseurs. They provide pop-up shoulder massage services at different locations.
As the masseurs put their skills to good use, they can earn a living and be financially self-reliant without having to rely on charity or aid. Sometimes we forget that a handicap does not mean the end of a career. Sometimes it means a new one can start. Join us in contributing towards a more inclusive society by helping a member of the handicapped community find work.
Who says work, relaxation and a good cause can’t mix?
Children with Cancer is a UK-based children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. Over the past 29 years, they’ve worked tirelessly to improve survival rates and quality of life in young patients by investing more than £250 million into childhood cancer research and welfare programmes. Thanks to their inspiring efforts and generous support, today nearly 84% of UK children diagnosed with cancer will overcome the heartbreaking disease and get to sound the The End of Treatment Bell.
Trax decided to step into the ring by taking on our own challenge – a 94-kilometre, gran fondo cycle ride to join the fight against childhood cancer. Each and every member from our UK team pedaled from London to Brighton, raising nearly £5,000 to directly support the charity. The trek proved to us that a team propelled by passionate support and a vigorous mentality can beat the odds to achieve the previously unachievable.
We’re honored and privileged to join the fight, keeping our hearts and ears open for more bells to ring.
